Old Sea was established in the queue at the Bulgarian immigration bureau. Jack Hughes (second in line) and Alex Merancienne (first in line) struck up conversation and decided there and then to meet a few days later and try out a few tunes. Jack meant to leave by summer's end. He never did. Three years later, and with long-term residency firmly secured, Old Sea Company has grown into a collective that fluctuates between a trio and an octet depending on the occasion.
